Harvey Tulcensky is an artist based in New York and Provence, whose obsessive notebook drawings have recently been shown at The Drawing Center and at The Center for Book Arts. Over the last few years he has been making prints with handmade rubber stamps, as well as with digital imagery lifted from the urban environment, which he refers to as “accidental drawings.” His drawings have been exhibited with the Edward Thorp Gallery in New York, the Daniel Weinberg Gallery in Los Angeles, as well as included in various exhibitions in the United States, Europe and South America over the past 25 years. In addition to drawings already held in the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection, fifteen of his notebook drawings were recently acquired by the Department of Drawings & Prints. He collects Outsider art and vernacular photography and has authored the seminal book on the topic of Real Photo Postcards, published by Princeton Architectural Press.
